history
Until the church is planted
For the first time there is a reference to the name Steinkirchen in a document for the year 1133. In a Moosburg St. Kastulus deed, a Rüdiger de Steininen Kirchen is mentioned as a witness. From this time on there are other mentions, B. 1159/61, when the Ministeriale Juditta von Steinkirchen donated an estate to Grasbrunn to the Hochstift Freising and Isengrim de Steinenkirchen acted as a witness. In the 13th century Eberhard and his sons Heinrich, Albert, Ulrich, Konrad and Friedrich de Stainkirchen and Vilbirgis de Steinchirc appeared in Freising manuscripts.
Steinkirchen had been a parish since 1315 with an unusually large number of branches; On April 6, 1374, the Freising Cathedral Provost Johannes von Kammerberg was granted the benefice of the Steinkirchen parish and at the same time the parish was united with the Freising Cathedral Provost. In modern times, Steinkirchen was Lower Bavarian for a long time: It belonged to the Landshut Rent Office and the Erding Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . In the course of the administrative reforms initiated by Montgelas in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .
Administrative community
The Steinkirchen administrative association with its seat in Steinkirchen has existed since 1978.
Incorporations
During the Bavarian community reform on October 1, 1971, the community Hofstarring came to Steinkirchen.
Religions
The vast majority of Steinkirchen's residents are Roman Catholic . The parish of Steinkirchen is currently headed by Pastor Jacek Jamiolkowski. He followed in 2005 parish administrator Herbert Aneder.

Culture and sights
- Catholic parish church St. Johannes Baptist and Johannes Evangelist in Steinkirchen, built in the second half of the 15th century, modified in baroque style in the 18th century
- Catholic branch church St. Laurentius in Hofstarring, built in 1767 by Johann Baptist Lethner
- Catholic branch church St. Martin in Niederstraubing
The Bründl Chapel in the forest north of Hofstarring is worth mentioning. It was built in 1707 by the Hofstarring innkeeper, Markmair, as a thank you for being rescued from a serious illness over a well-visited spring. In 1768 the pastor Deutinger bought a small altar for 2 guilders, in which the Wartenberg painter Josef Zach added a copy of the Passau Maria-Hilf picture. The pilgrimage has been intensified since the Second World War because it serves as a memorial for the local veterans' associations for peace.
A few kilometers northwest of Steinkirchen is Pirka Castle on a small hill. Only the manor house has been preserved, even if it has been changed from the view of Michael Wening around 1718.
In the Heimatmuseum in Thal (near Schröding), a historical courtyard has been on display since 2008.
Economy including agriculture and forestry
The Steinkirchen community is dominated by agriculture. Industry does not exist. Only a few handicrafts and businesses are based in the area, the majority of the residents work as commuters outside of the city. According to official statistics, there were six in the field of agriculture and forestry in 1998, 41 in the manufacturing sector and 57 in trade and transport at the place of work. In other economic areas, 22 people were employed at the place of work subject to social security contributions. There were a total of 436 employees at the place of residence subject to social security contributions. There were four companies in the manufacturing sector and two in the construction sector. In addition, in 1999 there were 64 farms with an agriculturally used area of 1178 ha, of which 866 ha were arable land and 304 ha were permanent green space.
traffic
Steinkirchen is on the district roads ED 26 and ED 28. Due to the small size of the community, the transport links are not particularly well developed. Only the truck traffic on the B15-Moosburg route brings a slightly higher volume of traffic. There is a public transport connection with the MVV bus line 561.
education
There is a church-run kindergarten in the Steinkirchen community area. Steinkirchen is a member of the Holzland School Association with two primary schools in Schröding and Hohenpolding . Secondary schools are located in Taufkirchen (Vils) (secondary and secondary school) and in Dorfen (special school, secondary school with M-Zug, grammar school).
