Franz Xaver Ertl

Franz Xaver Ertl (born June 16, 1919 in Oberstraubing ; † May 23, 2016 in Munich) was a German theologian and priest.

Life

Ertl attended the Progymnasium in Scheyern and the humanistic grammar school in Freising . During the Second World War he was used in labor and military service. After his release from five years of Soviet captivity in 1949 , he studied philosophy and theology at the Philosophical-Theological University of Freising . In 1955 he was ordained a priest, after which he worked as a chaplain in Weichs , Altomünster and Schwindegg .

In 1963 he became pastor in Munich-St. Andreas , 1975 became Diocesan Caritas Director of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising . At the German Caritas Association he headed the main representation in Munich from 1986, was first chairman of the Bavarian regional association from 1986 to 1993 and was a member of the central board. From 1986 he also headed the Church Tracing Service . In 1989 he was appointed senator for the religious group, and a year later he switched to the charities. He was a member of the employer representatives in the AOK Munich and on the supervisory board of the LIGA savings and credit cooperative Regensburg. From 1987 to 1997 he was chairman of the foundation board of the Catholic Foundation under public law 'Catholic educational institutions for social professions in Bavaria'.

From January 1, 1988 to December 31, 1993 he was a member of the Bavarian Senate . He was a member of the Committee on Cultural Policy (1988/1989), the Finance and Budget Committee (1988/1993) and the Committee on Social, Health and Family Policy (1990/1993).

Franz Xaver Ertl was involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land and was a member of the German Association of the Holy Land . In 1989 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Giuseppe Caprio and invested in Düsseldorf on October 28, 1989 by Anton Schlembach , Grand Prior of the Papal Order in Germany.
