The Dorfbach in Ascholding

Ascholding is part of the Dietramszell municipality in Upper Bavaria . The village has a unique shape in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district : The appearance of this so-called Bachzeilendorf , a special form of the street village , is characterized by the predominantly old farmhouses that are typical of the area and are arranged on both sides of the Dorfbach. Therefore, the entire village is a group of buildings under monument protection .

geography

The place is located in the foothills of the Alps, about eight kilometers northwest of Dietramszell and six kilometers from Wolfratshausen . The Mooshamer Weiherbach (Ascholdinger Bach) flows through Ascholding in an east-west direction and joins the Moosbach coming from the north on the north-western edge of the town . Shortly afterwards this flows into the Isar , which flows past Ascholding about a kilometer to the west. The 81 hectare Ascholdinger Au and the neighboring Pupplinger Au together form part of the Isarauen nature reserve between Schäftlarn and Bad Tölz .

history

Ascholding is first mentioned in a document at the end of the 8th and beginning of the 9th century.

Since the municipal reform , which came into force on July 1, 1972, Ascholding is no longer independent, but part of Dietramszell.

swimming pool

The Dietramszell community swimming pool is located in Ascholding. The indoor swimming pool, which dates from the 1970s, was recently threatened with closure because there was a need for renovation and it did not cover costs despite good occupancy. The local council decided in the summer of 2010 to keep operations going until further notice.

Attractions

St. Leonhard Church

Despite the proximity to Wolfratshausen with the S-Bahn connection to Munich, the village was largely able to retain its rural character.

The Castle Ascholding was first mentioned in 1170 and was once surrounded by a moat. In the years 1580 and 1811 it was expanded into a two-wing complex.

The parish church of St. Leonhard is worth seeing. The choir tower dates from the 1st half of the 15th century, the nave was built between 1669 and 1670.

In the corridor of Ascholding stands the St. Georg chapel, also called the Schimmelkapelle , which was built at the end of the 16th or beginning of the 17th century . It is located about a kilometer south of the village on a hill. This hill has the name Georgibichl or Birnberg, short Birn, which is pronounced Bian in the local dialect . Pirn is a Celtic word and means hill. There are several legends about this place.
