Baiernrain (until 1903 Baierrain ) is a district of the Dietramszell municipality in Upper Bavaria .

geography

The place is in the Bavarian Oberland region in the midst of the foothills of the Alps .

history

On January 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Baiernrain merged with four other municipalities to form the municipality of Dietramszell as part of the municipal reform .

Infrastructure and sights

Village center

Located away from the traffic routes from Munich to Bad Tölz and from Wolfratshausen to Holzkirchen , the village was largely able to retain its rural character.

The branch church of St. Peter and Paul, mentioned in 1560, whose tower was built around 1865, is worth seeing. A previous building is already documented for 1525.

The Bavarian Steam Railway Association has a model garden railway in the immediate vicinity of the sports field .

Personalities

Birthplace of Franz Hanfstaengl

Baiernrain is the birthplace of the painter, lithographer and photographer Franz Hanfstaengl (1804–1877). Josef Vogl (1848–1886), one of the fathers of the traditional costume movement in Bavaria, ran the tavern and died here. The Bavarian party politician Josef Eichner (1899–1979) was born in Baiernrain.

Events

The Baiernrainer Dorfherbst takes place every year on the last Sunday in September .
