Griesstätt is a municipality or locality of the same name located on the Inn in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim . The place was first mentioned in a document from Duke Arnulf I of Bavaria from 924, the so-called Rhini document.

Geographical location
The main town of the same name, Griesstätt, is located east of the Inn about 19 km north of Rosenheim , 8 km south of Wasserburg am Inn , 22 km northwest of Prien am Chiemsee , 26 km east of Ebersberg and 54 km from the state capital Munich .

history
The name Griesstätt was first mentioned in 924 in a document from Duke Arnulf of Bavaria . From 1667 until the secularization in 1803 the Hofmark Griesstätt belonged to the Altenhohenau monastery . Griesstätt became an independent political municipality in the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria in 1818 . In 1857 the places Holzhausen and Kolbing were incorporated with 276 and 246 inhabitants respectively. During the municipal reform in 1978, Griesstätt was incorporated into the administrative community of Rott am Inn . Since January 1, 1986, the municipality of Griesstätt has been completely independent again.
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 1981 to 2892 inhabitants by 911 inhabitants or 46%.

The first mayor has been Robert Assmus (SPD) since 2017. The predecessor from 2014 was Stefan Pauker (non-party voter Griesstätt). Its predecessor was Franz Meier (CSU).

- Bus traffic: The bus route 9415 ( regional traffic Upper Bavaria ) connects Griesstätt with Rosenheim , Wasserburg am Inn , Eiselfing , Schonstett and Vogtareuth .
- The nearest train station is the train station in Rott am Inn on the Rosenheim – Mühldorf railway line, approx. 3 km as the crow flies .

The main sports club in Griesstätt is the DJK SV Griesstätt. It was founded in 1964 and is divided into the following departments:

"Quality of life through closeness"
“Quality of life through proximity” is a model project in which numerous residents of the community take part. Various subject areas are discussed and implemented in the project. For example, the redesign of the Kettenhammer pond was successfully carried out in 2005.
Culture and sights
Sights include the St. Peter and Paul monastery church in Altenhohenau and the numerous chapels in and around Griesstätt. The final resting place of the swing trumpeter Charly Tabor is in the churchyard .
Regular events
The Tuba Festival is held annually at the end of May by the Griesstätter Blasmusik.
The Trachtenverein Griesstätt invites you to its traditional Easter dance every year on Easter Sunday. He will also host a garden party in mid-June. The year of the traditional costume festival ends annually with the parish fair on the third Sunday in October and the following Monday.
