The Postal Hohenstein is a Outbound medieval Spur castle on a 690  m above sea level. NHN high mountain spur on the northern slope of the Schnappenberg ("Schlossberg") between Kehrergraben and Alplbach in the Staudach-Egerndach municipal area in the Traunstein district in Bavaria .

The castle was built in the middle of the 11th century by Count Marquart I von Hohenstein ( County Kraiburg ) and mentioned around 1180 with a "Karolus de Hohenstaine". In 1260 the castle was owned by the Wittelsbach Duke Heinrich XIII. from Lower Bavaria . At the end of the 14th century the castle fell into disrepair.

Nothing has survived from the former castle complex on what is now a wooded castle square measuring 45 by 15 meters with a core castle , separated from the outer castle by two section ditches. The Burgstall is now a ground monument .
