The castle Törring , even old-Törring , Schlossberg called, is a Outbound medieval hilltop castle from the type of a motte (moth) on a narrow 520  m above sea level. NHN high tongue of the Rampelsberg west of Haus , a district of the municipality of Taching am See in the Traunstein district in Bavaria .

history

The castle was probably built between 1210 and 1230 by Friedrich I von Tengling , mentioned in 1270 as "castrum Torringa" and was the ancestral seat of the Counts of Törring . In 1421/22 the castle was razed in a feud of Kaspar von Törring in the ox war against Duke Heinrich the Rich of Landshut . After that, the castle was not rebuilt. The “Beißtörring” outer tower of Burghausen Castle was supposedly built with the stones from Törring Castle , but probably more for the construction of walls on the city side of the castle. Remains of the wall were still visible in 1766.

From the former moth system made of hewn tuff ashlars , the truncated cone-like core and the eastern outer bailey , there are still underground stone foundations, small remains of former stone buildings in the bailey and moat remains . The Burgstall is now a ground monument .
