Core lock
The main castle is a former castle and current rectory of the Heilig Kreuz parish in Traunstein (Upper Bavaria).
history
The Kernschloss was built around 1770 as a garden palace by the Bavarian Elector Kastner and Mautner Johannes Antonius Freiherr von Kern. In the middle of the 19th century, a west wing was added, both components were replaced by the Kgl. Really Council Eugen Rosner reshaped, enlarged and provided with a corner tower. In 1926 the city of Traunstein bought it. It was used as a mental institution and administration building for the Wehrmacht and as an apartment for refugees. In 1951 it was sold to the Missionaries of the Precious Blood for the establishment of a second Catholic parish in Traunstein, the parish of the Holy Cross. The parish church of the Holy Cross, designed by Rolf ter Haerst , was built on the core lock area , a sixteen-sided central building with a brick-lined steel frame construction (formerly Kunsthalle in Oberammergau ) with a flat sloping roof and an attached entrance porch. It was inaugurated in 1952. The main castle itself now serves as a rectory.
