history

The castle was the seat of the Lords of Tettelham, who were ministerials (servants) of the Count of Kraiburg and later the Count of Plain . The village of Tettelham became part of Salzburg under Archbishop Friedrich in 1324. The castle was acquired by Salzburg Archbishop Ortolf von Weißeneck in 1343 and later became the seat of a court. In 1349 one finds here Ekkolf von der Wart as a carer . After the heirs from the Toerring dynasty had been compensated , the archbishop left the festivals to the Lords of Tann , with whom, however, he had an argument about the Lichtentann festival . Although the dukes of Bavaria invaded the region around Tettelham at the instigation of the Tanners, Tettelham was finally awarded to the Archbishop of Salzburg in an arbitration tribunal in 1358 and 1362. As a border fort, Tettelham was repeatedly exposed to attacks from Bavaria, which is why the facility was heavily fortified. Hartneid the elder of Kuchl came into the possession of the castle and court of Tettelham. In 1367 his son Hartneid the Younger was the keeper at the fortress. After the pledge was released under Archbishop Pilgrim , Georg Frauenberger von Hag 1427–1461 was a caretaker on Tettelham. His son of the same name attacked the festival in 1471 and captured Georg Haunsberger von Vachenlueg, who had been appointed since 1469 . The Bavarian duke freed the Haunsberger, the 1000 guilders that Georg Haunsberger had received as a loan had to be taken over by the subsequent carers, most recently Hans Münich zu Münichhausen, who was also awarded the Waging land registry in 1526 and the maintenance of Halmberg in 1530 . After a fire, the castle was rebuilt around 1505 under Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach . In 1553 his successor was Georg Auer zu Gessenberg , who in 1560 also received the Waging land register. His son Hans Jakob Auer also resided here. In 1682 the caretaker Wolf Dominik von Überacker was given permission to move to Gessenberg Castle, but the files still had to be kept at Tettelham. Between 1683 and 1685 the houses for a new nursing court were completed in Waging and this function was transferred to Waging in 1697, the castle was left to decay. Small remains of the wall still bear witness to the former castle complex.
