Friedrich von Walchen († April 7, 1284 in Friesach ) was Archbishop of Salzburg as Friedrich II .

Life

Friedrich came from a noble family from Pinzgau. Around 1244 he was canon and parish priest of Salzburg. In 1265 he became provost of the cathedral . He soon rebalanced the difficult situation in which his predecessor had left the archbishopric and took part in the Council of Lyon in 1274 . In Salzburg he also held a synod in addition to the solemn consecration of the cathedral in 1274 and enfeoffed the children of King Rudolf I with fiefs in Styria and Austria in 1277 , which laid the foundation for the later Habsburg domination . In the Council of Salzburg in 1281, Friedrich dealt with internal questions about the Salzburg Church and its reform.

Friedrich von Walchen was buried in the Salzburg Cathedral in front of the altar of St. Virgil.
