Hans Spatzenegger (born November 13, 1939 in Berndorf near Salzburg ) is an Austrian archivist, journalist and publisher and author of historical publications.

Life

Spatzenegger attended the Archbishop's private grammar school Borromäum until 1958 and then studied law, history and journalism in Vienna , Zurich and Munich . In 1963 he obtained his doctorate in law . In 1964 he became director of the Catholic Educational Center in Salzburg, and in 1966 he was university assistant at the Institute for Political Science of the International Research Center for Fundamentals of Science.

From 1968 Spatzenegger worked as head of the Consistorial Archives (today: Archives of the Archdiocese of Salzburg ). In addition to his professional tasks, he also took on several voluntary functions, including working as a freelancer at the Salzburg regional studio of the ORF .

From 1977 to 1981 he acted as secretary of the Society for Salzburg Regional Studies , after which he was active on the society's committee and board of directors until 2004. From 1985 to 2000 Spatzenegger was head of the culture / science / religion / health department at the Salzburg regional studio.

Spatzenegger is the editor of several anthologies and the author of regional history , state history and political science publications, as well as a contributor to various lexicon projects, including the Austrian Biographical Lexicon . The eight-volume history of Salzburg - city and country , which he edited from 1981 to 1991 together with Heinz Dopsch, was of particular importance .
