Phetine called a former fortress and settlement on or at the Landsberger Schlossberg.

The Phetine settlement was first mentioned in a document in 1135 , and the settlement held the market rights of the Sandau monastery . In 1160 a castle was built by the Bavarian sovereign Heinrich the Lion , which later bore the name Landespurch or Landesperch . The castle served to protect the border between the Guelph Duchy of Bavaria and the monastery of Augsburg . Other functions of the castle complex were the securing of an important trade route over the Lech and the function of a Vogtburg for the Wessobrunn monastery .
