The Epfenhausen part of the municipality was first mentioned in a document around 1065. Oberbergen, which is one of the oldest development settlements in the Landsberg district, was founded in the 8th century. The oldest evidence of Ramsach is a document from the year 1179. Penzing and Untermühlhausen already existed when the Benediktbeuern monastery was founded around 740, which is evident from old records.
