Schwifting is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech and a member of the Pürgen administrative community .
geography
The community is located four kilometers east of Landsberg in between Lech located and Ammer rißeiszeitlichen moraines and würmeiszeitlichen Geröllanschüttungen. There are no other parts of the community apart from the main town.
history
Until the church is planted
In the documents of the Benediktbeuern monastery , Schwifting is mentioned for the first time in 987. Schwifting belonged to the secularization of Rottenbuch monastery . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Municipal council
The municipal council has had twelve members since 2020, as the limit of 1000 inhabitants was exceeded. Before that there were eight members. Since the penultimate election in 2014, the municipal council has consisted exclusively of candidates from the civic community.
coat of arms
The description of the coat of arms reads: Split of gold and red; in front a silver beech tree with seven leaves, which indicates that it was part of the Rottenbuch monastery, behind a black ibex growing out of a green three-mountain, symbolizing the regional location in the foothills of the Alps.

Natural monuments
A natural monument in Schwifting is the Marienlinde, an approximately 400 year old linden tree with a trunk circumference of 8.80 meters and a crown that is around 25 meters high. The tree was partially uprooted in a storm on July 29, 2005, fell over and has been lying almost horizontally since then, but still sprouts every year. The nature conservation authority revoked the status of a natural monument from the linden tree after the fall. In 2005 the linden tree standing on community property was supposed to be removed, in the meantime the tree is to be preserved, not least according to the wishes of the Schwiftingen citizens.

There are 32 jobs subject to social security contributions in the municipality. 344 residents have an employment relationship that is subject to compulsory insurance, so that the number of out-commuters is 312 higher than that of in-commuters (as of June 30, 2014).

State road 2346 ( Landsberg am Lech - Schondorf am Ammersee ) leads through Schwifting . The Landsberg a.Lech-Ost entrance to the A 96 is about three kilometers from the town center.

There is a day-care center with 50 approved places and 41 supervised children (as of 2015).
