history

The main town is mentioned for the first time in a document in Anno 818 as Finningum , the place name probably comes from the personal name Finno.

The early history of the place is closely connected with the noble family resident here. The lords of Finning are named as bailiffs from 1310, but around 1370 they sell the majority of their property to Konrad von Haldenberg and were given positions as ducal keepers of Weilheim , district judges of Aichach and district and town judges of Landsberg.

The new owner of the goods in and around Finning, Konrad von Haldenberg, sold on to Eberhard von Greifenberg as early as 1380. In the 16th century Oberfinning changed hands several times: 1516 Anna Schmalholzin, 1557 Melchior Vogt, 1580 Wiguläus Hundt zu Sulzemoos . From this the Hofmark passed to Duke Wilhelm V , who bequeathed it to the newly founded Jesuit College Landsberg in 1592.

After secularization within the be community edicts 1,818 municipalities Oberfinning, Unterfinning (with Wester Schondorf) and Entraching (with Fuchshof, Hartmann Hausen and spawning) in the District Court Landsberg formed.
