Sean Finning (born January 22, 1985 in Kyneton ) is a former Australian cyclist who competed in races on track and road and as a pilot in paracycling .

Athletic career

In 2002 Sean Finning was runner-up in the junior team pursuit on the track. A year later he won the bronze medal in the same discipline. In 2005, Finning became the national championship points race and from 2006 drove for the Australian Continental Team Southaustralia.com-AIS . At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne , he won the gold medal in the points race ahead of Hayden Roulston and Geraint Thomas . On the road, he won a stage at the Coupe de la Paix , the Tour of Gippsland and the Tasmania Tour . In the 2007 season, Finning was the Australian team pursuit champion, he won a stage in the Tour of the Southern Grampians, part of the Tour of Gippsland and he won the U23 road race of the Oceania Games .

In the following years Finning won other Australian championship titles in various disciplines on the track. In 2012 he won the bronze medal in the road race of the Oceania Championships. He also worked as a pilot in paracycling. At the UCI Paracycling World Championships in 2011 , he won the bronze medal in the single pursuit as a pilot for the visually impaired Bryde Lindores on the tandem . The following year, the two athletes jointly won the silver medal in the singles pursuit at the Summer Paralympics in London .
