The XIV Summer Paralympic Games were held in London from August 29 to September 9, 2012 . The contract between the host countries and the IOC stipulates that the Paralympics will use the same venue as the Olympic Games.
For the first time, the Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games were planned together from the start. 4,452 athletes from 164 nations took part, the largest number of athletes in the Paralympics to date; 16 nations were represented for the first time.
