At the Summer Paralympics 2012 in London from August 30th to September 8th, two wheelchair basketball competitions were held in the Basketball Arena and the North Greenwich Arena , one for women and one for men.

Each competition consisted of a preliminary round and placement games.

Twelve teams competed in the men's tournament. In the preliminary round there were two groups with six teams each, which played everyone against everyone . The best four teams in each group qualified for the quarter-finals. Then it went on in the simple knockout system until the final. Ten teams played for the women, which were divided into two groups in the preliminary round. Here, too, the best four teams in each group qualified for the quarter-finals and then it went on to the final in a simple knockout system.
