The 10th Paralympic Winter Games took place from March 12 to 21, 2010 in the Canadian city of Vancouver , the largest city in the province of British Columbia . The Paralympics are the Olympic Games for people with physical disabilities and took place after the 2010 Winter Olympic Games . Germany became the most successful nation with 13 gold medals.
The venues for the games stretched over a 120-kilometer zone from the shores of Richmond to the downtown area of Vancouver. Existing and new competition venues should be used for the competitions. For the second time Canada hosted the Games after the 1976 Summer Paralympics in Toronto . The opening ceremony was held at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver and the closing ceremony was held in Whistler .
