The island nation of Fiji sent the high jumper Iliesa Delana, an athlete, to the 2012 Paralympic Summer Games in London . Delana took part in the men's high jump competitions F42 (athletes with one leg without a prosthesis) on September 3rd and won the gold medal with a height of 1.74 meters. He won against the Indian participant Girisha Hosanagara Nagarajegowda (silver) and the Polish participant Lukasz Mamczarz (bronze), who also jumped the height of 1.74 meters, but needed more attempts.
Iliesa Delana was also the first winner of the Paralympic Games for the island state of Fiji.
