Djibouti sentan athleteto the London 2012 Paralympic Games . Houssein Omar Hassan was the first and so far only Paralympic athlete from Djibouti. As such, he also acted as a flag bearer.

For the East African country Djibouti, the participation of Houssein Omar Hassan in the middle distance run in the category T46 (for "upper arm amputees, forearm loss and these restrictions equals") was the premiere at the Paralympic Games . It was also the country's last participation so far.

During the preliminary run, Houssein Omar Hassan injured his foot. Despite considerable pain, to the cheers of the stadium, he was able to finish his run six minutes after the rest of the field.
