Wiguleus Hund (also Wiguläus Hundt , Wiguleus Hvnd o. Ä .; * July 26, 1514 in Kaltenberg ; † February 28, 1588 in Munich ) Dr. der Rechts, was a Bavarian legal scholar, historian and, as the President of the Court Council, an important advisor to Bavarian politics under Duke Albrecht V , carer of Dachau , lord of Sulzemoos, Lenting, Hasberg and Steinach .

Life

Wiguleus Hund comes from the old noble family of Hundt zu Lautterbach . He attended school in Augsburg . From 1530 he studied in Ingolstadt at the local University of the rights. In 1537 he received his doctorate there and took over a professorship for institutional studies . In 1539 Wiguleus Hund was elected rector of the university.

In 1567 or 1575, while traveling as a historian, Hund found a copy of the Nibelungenlied , the so-called “Prunner Codex” (today in the Bavarian State Library) at Prunn Castle in the Altmühltal .

Hundt was first married to Anna Kemper († September 28, 1553), his second marriage to Anastasia von Frauenberg († March 3, 1569) - thus also brother-in-law of Regensburg Bishop Veit von Fraunberg - and his third marriage to Franziska Ursula Zimprechts von Pienzenau on Kernnat and Chunigunden († 1602) married. He and his second wife had eleven offspring.

He died in 1588 and was buried in the Franciscan Church in Munich . When this was torn down after the secularization , the tombstone was brought to the family crypt of Lauterbach Castle .

Under the government of Wilhelm IV of Bavaria , Hundt became a member of the court council in Nuremberg in 1540 and a contractor for border regulation with Tyrol in 1541 . He was the Duke's envoy on the day in Ulm with Emperor Charles V (March 30, 1547) and caretaker at Menzing . He went in 1548 with Duke Wilhelm IV to the Diet of Augsburg and was founded by Emperor Charles V to the assessor at Imperial Courts to Speyer appointed (1548-1551). Initially assessor for the Bavarian Imperial Circle , he also took over this function in 1549 for the Saxon Imperial Circle .

Under the government of Albrecht V of Bavaria , he was government chancellor of Landshut in 1551 and was appointed to the court council in Munich in 1552. From 1550 to 1555, Hund was negotiator on the recall of the Jesuits with Petrus Canisius SJ and from 1560 to 1571 he was Bavaria's representative at the district assemblies. In 1556 he played a key role in the preparation of the Landsberg League .

As a reward for his services to the emperor and the empire, the imperial decrees dd appointed him. June 30, 1555, April 22, 1566 and October 20, 1579 as hereditary Count Palatinate . On May 19, 1568 Hundt received the golden chain of mercy from Emperor Maximilian II .

During the government of Wilhelm V of Bavaria in 1583 he was envoy to the Bishop of Eichstätt . In 1583 he resigned from the position of President of the Councilor. Hundt finally received the title of a secret council in 1583 .

Trivia

In the Munich district of Pasing-Obermenzing , a street is named after Wiguleus Hund. The Wiguläus-Hundt-Weg connects Pippinger Strasse with Blutenburg Castle .
