Veit von Fraunberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Veit von Fraunberg , also Vitus and von Regensburg († January 21, 1567 at Wörth Castle on the Danube ) was the 49th Bishop of Regensburg and Prince-Bishop of the Regensburg Monastery from 1563 to 1567.

Veit von Fraunberg came from the Bavarian noble family von Fraunberg . He was also the brother-in-law of Wiguleu's dog . Vitus was elected bishop in 1563 when the Council of Trent had come to an end. The implementation and effects of the council remained a priority topic for his successor David Kölderer von Burgstall . Among other things, it provided for the strengthening of the position of the bishop in relation to the cathedral chapter, so that the cathedral chapter was often hostile to the changes. After participating in the Diet of Augsburg in 1566, the bishop fell ill and died the following year. His epitaph shows him in splendid official costume and the episcopal insignia.
