Konrad von Luppurg
Konrad von Luppurg († 26. January 1313 in Regensburg ) was Konrad I. elect Bishop ( Elect ) of Gurk and Konrad V. Bishop of Regensburg .
Konrad von Luppurg came from a noble family from Luppurg in the Upper Palatinate, who previously lived in Eggenfelden in Lower Bavaria. In 1260 he became cathedral capitular of Regensburg, ten years later provost in Lower Franconia.
When the Gurk bishop Johann von Ennsthal died, Pope Martin IV had reserved the diocese of Gurk for himself and declared any other occupation invalid from the outset. The Archbishop of Salzburg and the Gurk Cathedral Chapter knew nothing of the papal reservation and chose Konrad von Luppurg as the new bishop. The Pope nevertheless approved this election after initial resistance on June 17, 1282 and ordered the Archbishop of Salzburg to consecrate Konrad von Luppurg as bishop. However, he renounced the diocese on May 11, 1283 without waiting for the consecration .
In 1290 Konrad became provost of the Regensburg cathedral chapter and in 1296 Bishop of Regensburg. As the last of his family, he brought his possessions around Lupburg , including Lupburg Castle, into the bishopric . The financial situation of the bishopric forced him to pledge the county of Donaustauf , which was to remain pledged for several centuries as far as possible. The Regensburg Jews, who played a central role in financial transactions with the neighboring duchies and also in the religious institutions, were largely protected from persecution by the bourgeoisie. Conrad V died on January 26, 1313 and was buried in the cathedral of Regensburg in front of the women's altar.
