Heinrich von Pettau

Heinrich von Pettau (* around 1160; † September 7, 1217 ) was Heinrich II. Bishop of Gurk .

Heinrich von Pettau was born around the year 1160 and came from a Lower Styrian ministerial family whose founder was Count Eppo, a son of the Eppensteiner Marquard , the first margrave of the Carinthian march . Heinrich von Pettau became provost in Maria Saal and pastor of Petersberg in Friesach . In 1214 he was appointed Bishop of Gurk by the Salzburg Archbishop Eberhard II . In 1215 he took part in the fourth general council in Lateran , which was still Pope Innocent III. to conclude his pontificate. During his stay in Rome, his vicariate general in the diocese of Chiemsee , newly founded in 1213, was confirmed. Bishop Heinrich also appeared at the provincial council of 1216 in Salzburg, where the contributions to the crusades were being negotiated.

Bishop Heinrich died on September 7, 1217. His final resting place is unknown.
