Ruprecht von Pfalz-Simmern , also Rupert (* October 16, 1461 , † April 19, 1507 ) was as Ruprecht II. From 1492 to 1507 the 45th Bishop of Regensburg .

Ruprecht II was a son of Count Palatine Friedrich I of Pfalz-Simmern and Margarethe von Geldern. On January 8, 1478, he was enrolled with his brothers Stephan and Friedrich at the law faculty of the old University of Cologne ( Universitas Studii Coloniensis ).

He suffered from a serious illness known as the French disease . This term included not only syphilis , but also yaws . The illness, from the consequences of which he finally died, hindered him considerably in the exercise of his office. The diocese was badly devastated in the Landshut War of Succession and with the establishment of the Duchy of Palatinate-Neuburg a changed secular order resulted. Since the lower clergy in the Abensberg area lacked energy in the pursuit of witches and wizards, the inquisitor Heinrich Kramer was called in to appoint a delegate.
