State and municipal council elections in Vienna in 1969
The state and municipal council elections in Vienna in 1969 were held on April 27, 1969. The Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ) was able to increase its share of the vote for the fourth time in a row and achieved a share of 56.9% with a plus of 2.2%. As a result, the SPÖ also gained three seats and now provided 63 of the 100 state parliament members or members of the local council. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP), on the other hand, recorded its worst election result since 1945 and only received 27.8% of the votes. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) gained 1.6% of the vote and achieved four seats with a total of 7.3%, which is one more seat than in 1964. The Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) flew out of the state parliament and municipal council after a loss of 2.8% and a share of the vote of 2.9%. The Democratic Progressive Party (DFP), which was founded in 1965 by former minister Franz Olah , who was excluded from the SPÖ, seized the opportunity . It immediately reached 5.2% and moved into the state parliament and local council with three mandates.
The Viennese state parliament and municipal council for the 10th electoral term was constituted on June 6, 1969 and, after swearing in, elected the Marek II state government , which was replaced by the Slavik state government on December 21, 1970 . On July 5, 1973, the state government Gratz I followed.
