Josef Rauchberger

Josef Rauchberger (born June 8, 1949 in Hall in Tirol ; † June 22, 2002 in Vienna ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and managing director of Schloss Laxenburg operating company. From 1991 to 1999 he was a member of the Austrian Federal Council and from 1999 to 2002 a member of the Vienna City Council and member of the Vienna State Parliament .

education and profession

Rauchberger attended compulsory school and subsequently learned the trade of confectioner , graduating from vocational school in 1967 with the journeyman's examination. He worked as a pastry chef from 1967 to 1968 and served his military service in 1968. Then Rauchberger changed his job. He worked as a real estate agent and administrator in 1969 and was then managing director from 1973 to 1976. In 1976 he switched to the service of the SPÖ, where he worked as an employee of the SPÖ federal party executive. He was then from 1982 to 1991 club secretary of the SPÖ parliamentary group in the Viennese state parliament and local council and then from 1991 to 1992 secretary of the Viennese SPÖ. In addition, he passed the vocational matriculation examination at the University of Vienna in 1985 and in 1989 passed the administrative examination “B” for specialist civil servants of the City of Vienna. Most recently, from 1995, he worked as managing director of Schloss Laxenburg Betriebsgesellschaft mbH and the Lower Austria Vienna Association. In 1999 he was given the professional title of Professor . Rauchberger studied journalism and political science at the University of Vienna for a time.

Politics and functions

Rauchberger was active as a district councilor in the Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus district from 1980 to 1983 and was then active from 1983 to 1986 as a member of the executive commission at the headquarters of the Vienna Regional Criminal Court. In addition, from 1985 he worked as a member with a deciding vote of the council of the city school council. He represented the Vienna SPÖ from February 1, 1991 to November 18, 1999 in the Federal Council. From 1999 to 2002 he was a member of the Vienna City Council and member of the Vienna State Parliament.

Rauchberger was the editor and co-author of several handbooks and reference works such as “District Representations in Vienna”, “Keyword Democracy. 50 years of current affairs ”or“ Keyword federal states, Federal Council ”.

He was buried at the Südwestfriedhof (group 11, row 6, number 27) in Vienna.
