- 168 BC BC : After three years of warfare, the Roman army under Aemilius Paullus succeeds in defeating the Macedonian armed forces in the Battle of Pydna in Greece and thus destroying the Diadochian Empire of the Antigonids .
- 363 : After the unsuccessful siege of Ctesiphon during the campaign of the Roman emperor Julian against the Sassanian it comes to the Battle of Samarra , which is a draw. In another skirmish four days later, the emperor suffers serious injuries to which he succumbs. His successor Jovian has to agree to a peace that is unfavorable for Rome .
