Career

Remsa, who started for Dukla Liberec, jumped from the normal hill to 53rd place at the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz . At the GDR championships in 1953 in Oberhof , he was third in the special jumping event on the Thuringian hill with 217.5 points. In the same year he won the Czech Marusarzówna Memorial in his homeland .

A year later started Remsa at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1954 in Sweden Falun , landing after jumps of 67.5 and 69 meters on the 37th place.

In the Four Hills Tournament 1955/56 Remsa only started in Bischofshofen and surprised the competition with tenth place. In the following year at the Four Hills Tournament 1956/57 Remsa competed in all four competitions. After a 24th place in the opening competition on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf , he achieved ninth place on the Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck, the best individual result of his career on the tour. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Bischofshofen he landed again in the top 20 and finished the tour with 808.4 points in a very good tenth place.

In his last Four Hills Tournament in 1957/58 he was unable to build on the previous year, but after good placements in the midfield, including 12th place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, he ended up in 20th place overall. A few weeks later he started at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1958 . Here he landed on the 43rd place with jumps on 61 and 58 meters.

After the end of his active career, Remsa became a ski jumping coach and in 1960 took over the ski jumping department from Dukla Liberec . His students included Jiří Raška and Zbyněk Hubač . The training group Remsas went through the press as the "Remsa Boys". A short time later he became the national coach of Czechoslovakia and led the team to the 1964 Winter Olympics and the 1968 Winter Olympics , where Raška won gold. In 1970 he resigned as national coach and went to Slovenia . In 1985 he resigned from this position and moved back to his homeland, where he trained the next generation of ski jumpers in Lomnice nad Popelkou , including Roman Koudelka . In 2009 he was part of the organization team for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec .

In January 2017 Remsa was inducted into the Hall of Fame by the coaching association.
