Miroslav Kadlec (born June 22, 1964 in Uherské Hradiště ) is a former Czech football player .

Career

Club career

Kadlec came from TJ Vítkovice to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the 1990/91 season . As a technically good defender and free kick specialist, Kadlec was a key player at the FCK for eight years and played a key role in winning the German championship in 1991 and 1998 and winning the DFB Cup in 1996. Kadlec played 234 games for Kaiserslautern and scored 17 goals (including 24 games and one goal in the 2nd Bundesliga ). After leaving Kaiserslautern, he played in the first Czech league for four years before ending his career in 2002 and working as a licensed player's agent.

National team

As captain , he led the Czech national soccer team to the finals of the 1996 European Championship in England (1: 2 against Germany ). In total, Kadlec played 64 international matches (38 for Czechoslovakia , 26 for the Czech Republic ) and scored 2 goals (1/1).

Kadlec is married and has a son and a daughter. His son Michal (* 1984) is a footballer himself and plays for Sparta Prague .
