Val Hillebrand (born June 22, 1981 in Wickede ) is a former Belgian racing driver .

Racing career

Val Hillebrand began his career in the late 1990s to the single-seater -Nachwuchsformeln Renault and Ford . In 1999 he was third overall in the Dutch Formula Ford 1800 Championship. In 2000 he played a full season in the German Formula 3 championship . He drove a Dallara 399 for JB Motorsport and scored 15 points in 16 races, which was in the final championship standings (overall winner Giorgio Pantano , ahead of Alexander Müller , Pierre Kaffer , André Lotterer , Stefan Mücke and Patrick Friesacher ).

Sports car

In 2001 Val Hillebrand switched to sports car racing . He became a team member at Racing for Holland , Jan Lammers' racing team . The racing team reported a Dome S101 in the FIA Sports Car Championship , where it achieved some success. After third places in the 1000 km race in Monza , the 2.30 hour race at Spa-Francorchamps and the 2.30 hour race in Donington, Lammers and Hillebrand won the last race of the season, the 2.30 Hour race on the Nürburgring .

In 2002 Lammers and Hillebrand won the overall championship with three wins this season. With 97 points, the two were well ahead of third-placed Courage C60 pilot Jean-Christophe Boullion , who was 20 points behind with 77 points. After he did not contest any races in 2003, he returned as a driver in 2004 and drove a Chrysler Viper GTS-R in the FIA GT Championship . He competed three times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans , was registered in several races in the Le Mans Series in 2006 and had his last race appearance in the 24 Hours of Zolder in 2007 , where he finished sixth overall.
