Life

Origin and education

Löwinger comes from one of the oldest theater families in Austria, the actor dynasty Löwinger, and was the daughter of folk actors Liesl and Paul Löwinger . She was born in 1940 during a tour of her parents in Graz and was already lying in a laundry basket backstage as a baby. In this way she became familiar with the theater atmosphere at an early age. At the age of five, she had her first small appearances at the side of her family on the Löwingerbühne.

She began dancing at the age of five and playing the piano and accordion at the age of six . Originally she wanted to be a pianist, but decided to act when she was fourteen. She dropped out of school to take acting, singing, literature and language classes. Dorothea Neff gave her lessons in order to prepare her for the necessary stage entrance examination . She learned dance from Willy Fränzl and singing from Professor Rittersheim. By the age of seventeen she had already passed all the required exams.

Professional background

From her parents she learned everything about acting and running a theater. At first she was responsible for the publicity and dramaturgy of the traveling theater together with her brother Paul Löwinger junior . At the age of 25 she organized the first Austrian tour, she was also responsible for the tour organizations, including through Germany and the United States, and celebrated triumphs on stage.

At the age of 31 she did her first directorial work and from 1985 also worked as a playwright. However, she wrote her eight pieces, all of which were shown on television, under the pseudonyms Helmut Haupt and Justus Schaub.

After the death of her father in 1988, she took over the management of the theater, initially together with her brother. In 1996 she ventured into a project that was completely new to her; she became vice director of the Althoff-Jacobi circus . Since 1997 the Löwinger stage toured Austria again.

However, the future of the stage is uncertain. Until her death, Sissy tried to tour at least one or two productions a year. Her daughter Martina declared that she did not want to pursue the same profession as her mother.
