Josef Jan Hais (born February 9, 1829 in Budětice , † October 27, 1892 in Chrast ) was Bishop of Königgrätz .

Life

Josef Jan. shark was after studying theology on November 2, 1859 in Ceske Budejovice for priests ordained. He later graduated from the University of Vienna the academic degree of Dr. theol. and became a professor at the seminary in Budweis .

After the death of Bishop Karl Borromäus Hanl von Kirchtreu , Bishop of Königgrätz , Josef Jan Hais was elected as his successor and was confirmed papally on July 5, 1875. He received the episcopal ordination on July 25, 1875 by the Bishop of Budweis, Jan Valerián Jirsík . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Leitmeritz , Augustin Paul Wahala , and the Prague Auxiliary Bishop Karl Franz Prucha . During his tenure, the bishop's residences in Königgrätz and Chrast were renovated. In 1881 the diocesan institution for the deaf was established.
