Wenzel Franz Karl Košinský von Košín (also: Wenzel Franz Karl Reichsfreiherr Koschinsky von Koschin ; Czech: Václav František Karel Košín ; born February 6, 1673 in Brno ; † March 26, 1731 in Chrast ) was Bishop of Königgrätz .

Origin and career

His father Johann Georg Ignaz Košinský von Košín was city counsel in Brno, later a court assessor and then a councilor and secretary of the royal Bohemian court chancellery in Vienna. In 1682 he received the Moravian Inkolat .

Wenzel Franz Karl Kosinsky of Košín studied theology in Rome and canon law and acquired in Olomouc the academic degree of Dr. iur. can. He was ordained a priest in 1695 and had been pastor at the Olomouc St. Mauritz Church from 1702 , which was destroyed in the town fire in 1709 and which he had rebuilt with his own funds. Probably for this reason he became canon at the Olomouc Cathedral in 1713.

After the death of the Bishop of Königgrätzer Johann Adam Wratislaw von Mitrowitz nominated Emperor Karl VI. on January 9, 1721 Wenceslaus Franz Karl Košinský von Košín as his successor. The papal confirmation of December 1st d. J. was consecrated bishop on February 8, 1722 by the Olomouc auxiliary bishop Braida.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Košinský improved the administration of the episcopal property and built the east wing of the castle in Chrast in 1728. In 1729 he ordered three-day church celebrations on the occasion of the canonization of John of Nepomuk .
