Josef Kajnek (born April 18, 1949 in Kutná Hora , Czechoslovakia) is a Catholic auxiliary bishop in the Czech Republic .

Kajnek was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Königgrätz on June 26th, 1976 in Prague after studying at the Litoměřice theological faculty .

After his ordination he became a chaplain in Česká Třebová , then he was parish administrator in Písečná and Ústí nad Orlicí . In 1984 he was deprived of his state license for obstructing state church supervision and sentenced to probation in addition to imprisonment. After he had to work for some time at the state forest administration and at the metro construction combine Metrostav in Prague, he was allowed to return to the priestly service and was parish administrator in Chomutice ( Okres Jičín ), later in Lázně Bělohrad and then in Pardubice .

1990 diocesan bishop appointed him Karel Otčenášek the vicar general , he remained 1998.

On November 4, 1992 was appointed titular bishop of Aquae in Dacia and auxiliary bishop in Hradec Králové . On December 12, 1992, he received the Karel Otčenášek episcopal ordination , which Nuncio Giovanni Coppa and the Prague Archbishop Miloslav Vlk as co-consecrators participated. As his motto he chose " In humilitatae servire " ( German  "Dienen in Humut" )

Between 1998 and 2001 he returned to parish ministry at his own request and worked in the parishes of Jablonné nad Orlicí and the surrounding area. In 2001 he was again administrator in Pardubice, the second largest city in the diocese. From 1998 he also worked as episcopal vicar for spiritual vocations. In the Czech Bishops' Conference he is responsible for prison chaplaincy . After the reinstallation of the cathedral chapter of the Holy Spirit in Hradec Králové, he was appointed provost of the chapter on November 10th .

Following the appointment of Bishop Dominik Duka as Archbishop of Prague, Auxiliary Bishop Kajnek was appointed diocesan administrator on April 12, 2010 for the period of the Sedis vacancy .
