Česká Třebová ( [ˈtʃɛskaː ˈtr̝̊ɛbovaː] , German: Böhmisch Trübau ) is a town in the Okres Ústí nad Orlicí in the Pardubický kraj region in the Czech Republic .
geography
Böhmisch Trübau is one of the oldest and most important cities in Eastern Bohemia. It is located in the Bohemian Drift Valley and is surrounded by mountains. The landscape is also known as Českotřebovsko .
history
The place is mentioned for the first time in 1278 in a letter from the Leitomischler abbot Ulrich to the Olomouc bishop Bruno von Schauenburg . At that time it was called Tribovia , belonged to the Lanšperk domain and later to the Landskron domain . In a founding letter of the Cistercian monastery Königsaal , Böhmisch Trübau is mentioned as Civitas in 1292 . In 1304 King Wenceslaus II transferred the Bohemian Trübau to the Königsaal monastery, which it should serve as a donation. In the same year it was designated as a market town and in 1356 as an oppidum . After the Hussite Wars , it passed into secular ownership, with frequent changes of ownership. The Kostka von Postupitz sold it to Wilhelm II of Pernstein , this to Peter Bohdanecký von Hodkov ( Petr Bohdanecký z Hodková ). During his reign the town hall was built in the Renaissance style.
After the Battle of the White Mountain , the Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn took over the city. They revoked all city rights. During the Thirty Years' War the city burned down almost completely in 1636. The fires of 1745 and 1792 also destroyed the building fabric. In 1848 the city regained its independence.
After the railway connection in 1845 an economic boom followed. The city developed into a center of home weaving and later the textile industry. Mechanical engineering was added in the 20th century.
On January 14, 2017, a sports hall collapsed during a floorball game. All people in the hall were able to escape outside in good time; there were a total of two slightly injured.
