First she played in the amateur theaters Žižkovan and Pokrok , then in 1907 she was engaged at the Vinohradské divadlo . There she got to know the important director and her future husband Karel Hugo Hilar . Both moved to the National Theater in Prague in 1922 .

During their marriage, Baldova unconditionally supported her husband and initially hardly noticed as an actress, although she was also supported by her husband. She first played roles of naive girls and lovers, such as a skinny servant, a chambermaid or a matchmaker, and also appeared as a soubrette in an opera.

Only after the death of her husband in 1935 did she develop her own character. At first she pursued her great dream of becoming a tragedian. The roles she played and the extraordinary feel and sense of comedy eventually led to her becoming one of the most popular actresses in comedies . Her screeching voice, lisping and chirping pronunciation, perfect for comical roles, eventually became her trademark. Her strength lay mainly in her natural kindness and her feeling for the pain of others. She managed to capture the type of Czech people and present them to the audience.

In films she usually played the loving, worried mother, aunt, grandmother or neighbor. Their roles were human and simple. She made her last two films seriously ill and at the end of her physical strength.
