The railway line Česká Třebová – Praha is a double-track, electrified main line ("celostátní dráha") in the Czech Republic , which was originally built and operated as part of the Imperial and Royal Northern State Railway . It runs from Praha ( Prague ) via Kolín and Pardubice ( Pardubice ) to Česká Třebová ( Trübau ). The route is part of the Pan-European Transport Corridor IV and TEN Corridor No. 22 (Athens − Nuremberg / Dresden).

All EC connections between Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland that stop in Praha run on this route, as well as all SC connections between Prague or Cheb and Ostrava or Bohumín.

history

Operations on the line began on August 20, 1845.

Electrical operation began on November 7, 1957.

RegioJet trains run on the route from Havířov to Prague.

The Kolín – Poříčany section has been equipped with ETCS Level 2 since 2008 . Here, the compatibility of ETCS with the Czech LS train control system is tested and adapted; further sections with ETCS Level 2 are to follow later. Scheduled trains are not yet run with ETCS.

Between Ústí nad Orlicí and Choceň, the route, which follows the winding valley of the Silent Eagles ( Tichá Orlice in Czech ) and only allows a speed of 70 km / h, is intended to pass through the Oucmanice (4,985 m) and Hemže (1,157 m) tunnels. straightened and upgraded for speeds of 160 km / h or later 200 km / h.
