The Choceň – Litomyšl railway is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated as a local railway by the priv. Austro-Hungarian State Railway Company (StEG) . It runs from Choceň via Vysoké Mýto to Litomyšl .

According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

On March 11, 1881, the StEG was granted the " right to build and operate the following railway lines branching off from their northern main line as standard-gauge local railways: ... from a point next to the station Chotzen to Leitomischl ... ". The route was opened on October 22, 1882.

After the nationalization of the StEG, the line was transferred to the kk Austrian State Railways kkStB on January 1, 1908 . After the First World War, the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD took their place .

The 2008 timetable provides for a total of 13 daily pairs of passenger trains on weekdays, which run on an irregular schedule . Other trains only serve the Choceň – Vysoké Mýto route.

Vehicle use

Today train traffic is handled exclusively with the tried and tested two-axle class 810 railcars .
