The Poříčany – Nymburk město railway is a railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated as a local railway by the priv. Austro-Hungarian State Railway Company (StEG). It runs from Poříčany via Sadská to Nymburk .

history

The concession for the local railway from Poříčan to Sadská was given to the StEG on August 21, 1881 together with the lines Chotzen – Leitomischl , Přelouč – Hermanměstec with branches , Kralupp – Welwarn and Lobositz – Libochowitz . Completion and commissioning of the line was required by law by the end of 1882. The license was issued until December 31, 1965. On July 1, 1882, the line was opened. The StEG carried out the operation itself.

Sadská station was the provisional terminus of the local railway in 1882/83 (2011)

The concession for the continuation of the line to Nimburg was awarded to the StEG on March 11, 1883 together with the Minkovic – Swolenowes and Littau – Littau Stadt lines . The completion date was set for December 31, 1883. The line went into operation on August 26, 1883 together with the short connecting line to Veleliby . There was a connection to the local railway Nimburg – Jičín of the kk priv. Bohemian Commercial Railways (BCB), which had been owned by StEG since 1883.

On September 23, 1896, the StEG opened the short connecting curve to Nimburg train station (today: Nymburk hl.n.) of the kk priv. Österreichische Nordwestbahn (ÖNWB).

In the 1900 timetable, three pairs of passenger trains ran between Poříčan and Nimburk local station, two of which had a direct connection to Jičín. The driving time for the 14-kilometer route was just over half an hour.

After the nationalization of the StEG in October 1909, the line belonged to the network of the kk state railways (kkStB). The passenger trains were now basically tied from Poříčan to Jičín.

In the early 1960s, the line was electrified with 3 kV direct current. Electric rail operations began on June 18, 1961.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

The largest engineering structure on the route is the bridge over the Elbe in Nymburk (2012)

In the 2012 timetable, the route is operated every hour by passenger trains on line S12 on the Poříčany – Nymburk hl.n. served. Some of the trains are also tied to and from Kolín .

By March 2020, a total of six previously unsecured crossings had been equipped with flashing lights . After commissioning the systems, a continuous line speed of 100 km / h can now be achieved, previously only 60 km / h were permitted at the crossings. In total, the infrastructure management invested 79 million crowns.
