The Litovel – Senice na Hané railway is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated as part of the state-guaranteed local Littau – Groß Senitz railway. It runs from Litovel ( Littau ) to Senice na Hané ( Groß Senitz ).

history

The concession for the local railway Littau - Groß Senitz with a branch to the quarries in Lautsch was granted on December 31, 1913. Part of the concession was the obligation to “ complete the routes and hand them over to public transport ” within one year . The license was issued until December 31, 2003. The line was opened on August 1, 1914. The operation was carried out by the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) for the account of the owners with their operating resources.

After the collapse of Austria-Hungary in October 1918, management was transferred to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD). The 1921 timetable included two mixed pairs of 2nd and 3rd class trains between Litovel and Litovel-Chořelice and four pairs of trains between Litovel-Chořelice and Senice. There were no direct connections between the train connections between the two sections of the route.

With the nationalization of the local railway company on January 1, 1925, the infrastructure also became part of the ČSD network. In the mid-1930s, travel was abandoned in favor of a bus route.

During the Second World War , the route lay entirely in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . The operators were now the Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB). At that time, travel was also resumed. In the 1944 timetable, there were three pairs of passenger trains that now ran continuously from Červenka to Senice.

On May 9, 1945, the entire line came back to the ČSD. As an innovation, mainly modern motor trains were now used in tourist traffic . The first post-war timetable from 1945 recorded a total of 13 pairs of trains between Červenka and Litovel pivovar, four of which continued to Senice na Hané.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

In the 2013 annual timetable, the route is served by passenger trains every two hours, most of which are connected to and from Prostějov .
