The Olomouc – Čelechovice na Hané railway is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated by the Austrian Local Railway Company (ÖLEG) as the Olomouc – Czellechowitz local railway . It runs from Olomouc ( Olomouc ) to Čelechovice na Hané ( Czellechowitz ). The section from Senice na Hané to Čelechovice na Hané is part of the connection from Červenka to Prostějov .

According to a decree of the Czech government, the Olomouc – Senice na Hané section has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

The concession for the local railway Olmütz – Czellechowitz was awarded to the ÖLEG on August 22, 1882 together with the Hungarian-Hradisch – Hungarian-Brod line . Part of the concession was the obligation to “ complete the routes and hand them over to public transport ” within two years . The license was issued until August 21, 1971.

The line was opened on March 4, 1883. The operation was initially carried out by the ÖLEG itself, from 1886 this task was transferred to the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB).

On September 1, 1889, the Moravian Western Railway opened the connecting line to Kostelec. The kkStB ran operations there too, so that from now on most trains ran continuously to and from Kostelec.

On January 1, 1894, the ÖLEG became the property of the state. The infrastructure now also belonged to the kkStB network. In 1912, the local railroad's timetable showed five mixed 2nd and 3rd class trains. It took them almost two hours for the 34-kilometer route.

After the collapse of Austria-Hungary in October 1918, the route was transferred to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).

In the early 1930s, the ČSD built a direct introduction of the line to the Olomouc main station, which went into operation on December 16, 1931. The local train station and the connecting track to Hodolany were closed.

From the mid-1930s, some of the passenger trains were also driven with motorized trains, which led to a significant reduction in travel times. The winter timetable of 1937 recorded up to seven pairs of passenger trains between Olomouc and Prostejov, five of which were motorized trains. Other trains ran on partial routes.

During the Second World War , the route lay entirely in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . The operators were now the Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB). On May 9, 1945, the entire line came back to the ČSD.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

While the section from Olomouc to Senice na Hané was already classified as a branch line ("regionální dráha") when the Czech railway network was divided into main and branch lines in 1995, the further section to Čelechovice na Hané was initially classified as a main line ("celostátní dráha") and later downgraded to branch line.

In the 2013 annual timetable, the route is operated every hour by passenger trains on the route Olomouc hl. n.– Senice na Hané , where there is a connection to the two-hour trains on the Červenka – Prostějov route. Individual trains also run directly to and from Drahanovice.
