The Kostelec na Hané – Čelechovice na Hané railway is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built by the Moravian Western Railway as a state-guaranteed local railway . It runs from Kostelec na Hané ( Kosteletz ) to Čelechovice na Hané ( Čellechowitz ). The route is part of the connection from Prostějov to Červenka .

history

The concession for the Moravian Western Railway was granted on July 11, 1886 to the Erlanger & Sons bank in Frankfurt am Main. In addition to the construction of the main Proßnitz – Mährisch Trübau line, a branch line to Opatowitz and the connection to the Olmütz – Čellechowitz line operated by the ÖLEG were also planned. The concessionaires were obliged to start construction of the lines immediately and to finish them within two years. The duration of the concession was set at 90 years. The Kosteletz – Čellechowitz line was opened on September 1, 1889, together with the main Proßnitz – Triebitz line . The operation was carried out by the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) on behalf of the owners.

In 1912 the timetable of the local railway indicated up to seven 2nd and 3rd class passenger trains, five of which were connected to and from Olomouc. They needed six to eight minutes for the three-kilometer route.

After the collapse of Austria-Hungary in October 1918, management was transferred to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).

From the mid-1930s, some of the passenger trains were also driven with motorized trains, which led to a significant reduction in travel times. The winter timetable of 1937 recorded seven pairs of passenger trains between Prostějov and Olomouc, five of which were motorized trains.

During the Second World War , the route lay entirely in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . During this period, operations were run by the Protectorate Railways of Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB). On October 10, 1945, the Moravian Western Railway was nationalized. From then on, the infrastructure was also part of the ČSD network.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

In the 2013 annual timetable, the route is served every two hours by passenger trains on the Červenka – Prostějov route. Other trains condense this timetable on weekdays, sometimes at one-hour intervals.
