history

The first written mention of Kostelec comes from 1273, when Nicholas of Troppau received the Plumlov rule . In 1322 Vok von Krawarn acquired the property. In 1340 Kostelec was referred to as a town in a document from the Olomouc bishop Jan Volek . A vineyard on Kosíř and the Bezděkovský farmstead have been documented since 1391 . With the Skrbenský courtyard (1406), the Ondrušovský courtyard (1646) and the Nedomanský courtyard, three more free courts were added later. In 1417 Heinrich von Krawarn granted the town the right of repudiation. Viticulture was stopped on Kosíř around 1450 and a vineyard was laid out again in 1558. In 1466 the line of Krawarn von Straßnitz and Plumlov in the male line became extinct and in 1495 the Lords von Pernstein acquired the goods. Since 1500 Kostelec had the privilege of two annual markets and a free wine bar. Johann von Pernstein approved the establishment of guilds in 1534 and confirmed the guild regulations in 1539 and bathing regulations in 1548. Under Jaroslav von Pernstein , the town received brewing rights in 1564. In 1599 the Liechtensteiners acquired the rule. In 1684, Karl Eusebius zu Liechtenstein revoked all the privileges granted by his predecessors and made the residents subject to robots . In 1773 further vineyards were laid out behind Lutotín. Kostelec remained subordinate to the Liechtensteiners until 1848.

After the abolition of patrimonial Kostelec formed a market town in the political district of Olomouc and judicial district of Plumlov. Since 1868 it has belonged to the Prostějov District. To distinguish it from the eight other Moravian places called Kostelec , the place was mostly called Kostelec nad Romží or Kostelec u Prostějova . The place name Kostelec na Hané has been in use since 1912, which became the official name after the establishment of Czechoslovakia because of the 21 places of this name throughout the country. On June 30, 1970 Kostelec na Hané was raised to the city. In 1992, 2699 people lived in the city's 751 houses.
