Skalka (German Strerowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located eight kilometers southeast of Prostějov and belongs to the Okres Prostějov .

geography

Skalka is located on the edge of the Hanna in the easternmost foothills of the Drahaner Bergland . The village lies at the northern foot of the Na Skalách hill (273 m) in the basin of the Trávnička brook. To the north rises the hill Svatý Prokop (237 m), on which the chapel of the same name is located. The Lázně Skalka spa is located on the eastern edge of the village and has six healing springs. In the east runs the Nezamyslice – Šternberk railway line , where the nearest train station is located in Čelčice.

Neighboring towns are Čehovice in the north, Čelčice in the northeast, Klenovice na Hané in the east, Pivín in the southeast, Vřesovice in the west and Výšovice in the northwest.

history

The first mention of Skalička and the Vladiken Bohudar from Rakodavy comes from 1360. The existence of the village has been documented since 1550. The noble families of Otaslavice, Pernstein and Falkenhayn belonged to the owners of Skalička . In the second half of the 16th century, Matyáš Žalkovský from Žalkovice acquired the place. During his reign several folk songs were written about the place. Over time, the name of the place changed to Hvězdov and finally to Strerovice.

After the abolition of patrimonial Strerovice in 1848 became part of the municipality Pivín in the Kremsier district . In 1877 the municipality Strerovice was established, which belonged to the district administration Přerov and the political district Kojetín, later also to the district Přerov. In 1900 Strerovice consisted of 75 houses and had 277 inhabitants. In 1921 the village was named Skalka.

After two mineral springs had been discovered on the site of the former Bařisko pond, the Proßnitz doctor Wilhelm Sonnewend opened an alkaline sulfur spa in 1928 . Ten years later, Dr. Schnabel looked for other sources and created an artesian mineral well. Other springs were discovered later, each with a different water quality.

Between 1950 and 1960 Skalka was part of Okres Kojetín and after its dissolution came to Okres Prostějov. Skalka has always been parish after Pivín. After hardly anything had been invested in the baths after the Second World War, the bathing facilities were renovated in 2004 for 14 million crowns and the spa gardens were also restored. Rheumatic and other joint diseases are treated in the bathroom. The composition of the medicinal water of Skalka is unique in the Czech Republic and can best be compared with the fountains in Slatinice and Velké Losiny .
