The Nezamyslice – Šternberk railway is a railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated by the kk priv. Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn (KFNB) as part of the Moravian-Silesian Northern Railway . It runs from Nezamyslice via Olomouc ( Olomouc ) to Šternberk . Between Nezamyslice and Olomouc it is electrified and classified as a main line ("celostátní dráha"), the further section to Šternberk, however, has been downgraded to a branch line ("regionální dráha").

history

The line was opened in 1870.

In 1993 it was electrified between Nezamyslice and Olomouc.

The remainder of the route to Šternberk (and on to Šumperk) is to be electrified by mid-2022. This is due to the strong regional traffic, which in future is to be handled at frequent intervals with electric multiple units. In this context, the aim is to increase the line's top speed to 160 km / h. The total investment amounts to 5.3 billion crowns, some of which is financed by a support program of the European Union.
