As the main line ("celostátní dráha") only the section Bludov - Hanušovice is classified today, the sections before and after were downgraded to the branch line ("regionální dráha").
The Šumperk – Bludov section has been electrified since 2010 as part of the connection to Zábřeh na Moravě.
history
The main railway connection Sternberg – Nieder Lipka near Grulich was established in 1873 in the form of two connections to the connection Hohenstadt – Zöptau that had existed since 1872. It was owned by the Moravian Border Railway (MGB), in which the company of the Klein brothers from Zöptau was involved. The main line of the Moravian border railway from Sternberg to Nieder Lipka was opened on October 5, 1873 (Blauda – Nieder Lipka) and October 15, 1873 (Sternberg – Mährisch Schönberg). From January 1, 1893, the kk Österreichische Staatsbahnen (kkStB) was responsible for the management, which also acquired the infrastructure from 1895. After the First World War lost for Austria-Hungary and the subsequent establishment of Czechoslovakia , the route was transferred to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).
Since the dissolution of Czechoslovakia on January 1, 1993, the line has belonged to the inventory of the Czech railway company ČD and since 2003 to the state infrastructure company SŽDC .
On December 11, 2011, passenger traffic between Hanušovice and Dolní Lipka was suspended. However, since February 2, 2013, some trains have been running again on weekends.
The line between Šternberk and Šumperk is to be electrified by 2022. The route between Olomouc and Uničov will be expanded to a maximum speed of 160 km / h.
