history

The village of Neudorf was created at the end of the 16th century by the rule Eisenberg below Hannsdorf on their border area on the right bank of the March. It was later referred to as Halbseith because of the frequency of "new villages" in the area .

After the abolition of patrimonial formed half Seith / Holba a district of the municipality Nikles in the district Šumperk . Industry began to settle in the second half of the 19th century. At the end of the 1850s, the Mährisch Schönberg entrepreneur Eduard Oberleithner built two flax spinning mills in Halbseit and Hannsdorf. He continued to expand the factories and in the 1870s, with 800 workers, they were among the largest of their kind in Moravia and Silesia and were also the most modern in the entire Imperial and Royal Monarchy. In the course of industrialization, both villages grew together. Since Hannsdorf was located in the steep valley of the Hannsdorfer Bach, the industrial settlements took place south at the mouth of the Branná in the March; however, the areas were not sufficient for further farms. The broad floodplain of the March on the opposite side offered more favorable conditions.

In 1873 the Sternberg - Mährisch Schönberg - Grulich line was inaugurated, and Hannsdorf station was built halfway. In 1874 Josef Mullschitzký founded the Mullschitzký & Comp. Brewery. zu Hannsdorf-Halbseit , which from 1882 operated as the brewery of Chiari & Co. zu Hannsdorf-Halbseit . In the 1870s, this development led to Halbseit / Holba forming a separate political community with the Weinberg, Hofwiesen and Nieder Hofwiese settlements. After the construction of the Olomouc - Freiwaldau - Bad Ziegenhals line between 1883 and 1888, an important railway junction was built halfway in northern Moravia . In 1890 it consisted of 74 houses and had 796 inhabitants, all but two Czechs belonging to the German ethnic group. A steam sawmill was operated in the village and there was a one-class village school. In 1905, the Hannsdorf – Mährisch Altstadt local railway was put into operation. At the beginning of the 20th century, further companies for processing agricultural products as well as a leather goods factory and mineral water factory settled in Hannsdorf and Halbseit. Quarries were also operated. In 1923, half of it was merged with Hannsdorf and the town was raised to a minority .

As a result of the Munich Agreement , half became part of the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Mährisch Schönberg district until 1945 . In 1945/46 the German residents were expelled . The Holba brewery is located in the village .
