The first written record about the place comes from 1207. In 1247 the village was named Zlatinan . On September 14, 1249 Zlatina Maiori was mentioned in a document from Margrave Ottokar II Přemysl . In it, the Matrona Střezna bequeathed her share of the village to the monastery of St. Peter in Olomouc. Until 1263 Zlatina Maiori is documented as the property of this monastery, from 1282 it belonged to the property of the Olomouc Monastery of St. Catherine. In 1364 the place was called Lateyn , in 1405 as Veliké Slatěnice and in 1492 as Weliky Slatenicz or Slatěnice . In 1522 the village passed from the possession of the Katharinenkloster to the monastery of St. James in Olomouc. Weliky Slatenicz sold this to Johann von Pernstein in 1535 . After his grandson of the same name fell at a young age in 1597, the Pernstein family sold Weliky Slatenicz to the Liechtenstein family in 1599 .

The healing properties of the spring have been known since the 16th century. The first documented bather was Vladike Šimon von Nadějov in 1556. After the doctor Thomas Jordan von Klausenburg described the healing properties of water in 1580, regular bathing began in the 17th century. In 1633 the place was called Slatenicz . As a result of the Thirty Years' War, the village was desolate in 1642 and was repopulated after the end of the war. The oldest seal dates from 1698 and bears the inscription Peczet diediny hrubich Slatienicz . Other forms of the name were Groß Latin (from 1671), Groß Slatein , Slatinitz , Slatenitz (from 1677), Hrubé Slatěnice (from 1698), Groß Lattein or Slatinicz (1751) and Hrubá Zlatenica (1846). The registers have been kept on site since 1720. During the Seven Years' War, the Prussian King Friedrich II took his headquarters in Grand Latin. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained subject to the Liechtenstein rule of Plumau .

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Hrubá Zlatenica / United Latin 1850 a municipality in the district administration Proßnitz . The inhabitants of the village lived from agriculture. In 1856 most of the village burned down. In 1881 Slatěnice / Great Latin was assigned to the Olomouc district. Since 1921 the community belonged to the Okres Olomouc-venkov. The official name Slatinice was introduced in 1924. In 1926 the Olomouc - Nebotein - Luttein - Latin bus line started operating . From 1949 the municipality belonged to the Okres Olomouc-okolí and since 1961 it belongs to the Okres Olomouc . In 1974 the spa was raised to the rank of Moravian spa. Lípy was incorporated in 1980.
